Arlington Public Schools
Facilities Condition Assessment
Scope of Work
A three-month comprehensive facilities assessment of the Arlington Public Schools in Arlington, VA, was conducted to identify its facilities' needs and to estimate the costs required to address those needs.
StudioJAED identified critical repair issues, life/safety issues, deferred maintenance and performance issues related to building systems and remaining life expectancy of components and systems at 17 different schools. The study extended beyond a physical assessment as we subcontracted with the Planning Alliance to provide an educational adequacy analysis, capacity analysis and space analysis comparison to defined building type models.
A pilot study of the assessment/adequacy analysis process was conducted at Williamsburg Middle School to evaluate and conduct necessary modifications to initial processes and standards determined by a joint review session.
Arlington Public Schools was presented with an executive summary of each school and its needs. Those needs were classified with a priority scale, ranging from immediate to low, and were assigned a reason property.
