Scope of Work

StudioJAED was retained by Cecil County Public Schools to provide planning and design services for renovations and additions to Calvert Elementary School. With an expanding program and dramatically rising enrollments, this project nearly doubled the area of the facility.

The project consisted of a comprehensive reprogramming of the facility including a new state-of-the-art media center, a new gymnasium/auditorium, new music and art suites, and new classrooms for all grades K-5. The facility also received a complete makeover of the site with newly-separated entrances and exits for bus and automobile traffic control, protected walkways for student pedestrian traffic, and new playfields and equipment for student use.

StudioJAED and Cecil County Public Schools placed a strong emphasis on high-performance building design and energy efficiency, utilizing a geo-thermal heating and cooling system with energy recovery, variable flow pumping, advanced building automation and lighting control systems, waterless urinals, and reduced-flow fixtures throughout Calvert Elementary School.
