Red Clay Consolidated School District
Architecture & Engineering for Districtwide Renovations & Additions
In 1999, StudioJAED conducted a thorough condition assessment of all facilities within the Red Clay Consolidated School District (RCCSD) as part of the Delaware Department of Education’s Statewide Facilities Condition Assessment. Based on the findings, RCCSD developed a Major Capital Program to address both renovations to existing facilities as well as new space requirements. In 2002, with funding for the work in place, the District retained StudioJAED as the Managing Architect for the entire project.
StudioJAED’s team of Architects and Engineers prepared preliminary design documents in order to improve 25 schools in the District. The scope of work included air conditioning and heating system upgrades, new classrooms additions, library and science labs upgrades, and more. Other key core spaces, such as cafeterias, auditoriums and auxiliary gyms were added as needed to better serve RCCSD students.
Throughout the District, athletic facilities were improved and expanded, building appearances freshened, concerns about student and staff safety addressed by adding building security card access to their existing security systems, and data systems throughout the District were upgraded to meet today’s technological standards.
