Harford Community College
Chesapeake Center HVAC Renovations
When Harford Community College was faced with the intricate task of replacing the HVAC systems in its main administration building, they knew that the engineering would have to be precisely accomplished and coordinated. StudioJAED was commissioned to evaluate different HVAC solutions, including geothermal, make recommendations, and design the preferred solution.
Two-pipe air handling units serving the dining hall, administration offices, and theater were replaced with energy-efficient variable-air-volume DX cooling, hot water heating systems. Refurbishment of the kitchen make-up air units was undertaken, and these were supplemented with a new variable-refrigerant-volume air conditioning system to provide a more comfortable working environment for the staff. A new direct digital control building automation system was installed to provide accurate control of space temperature and optimize energy savings.
