One of the highlights at the A4LE LearningScapes International Conference in Atlanta is the opportunity to hear some of the great thinkers of our time. One of those, a futurist, David Houle, was the final keynote speaker at the conference. One of his books, entitled “Shift Ed: A Call for Transforming K-12 Education," was the basis for his keynote presentation. One particularly poignant quote cited from that presentation and from his book is by Miguel de Unamuno and certainly applies to our thinking about education in the future.  It is “We should try to be the parents of our future, rather than the offspring of our past.”

Dick Moretti, one of our Accredited Learning Environment Planners, had the opportunity to meet and talk with David during the conference.
