StudioJAED recently completed the first phase of an extensive Facilities Management Assessment for Career Education Corporation (CEC) headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. CEC manages more than 80 campuses internationally and contracted StudioJAED to conduct a comprehensive review and performance audit of 13 different campuses located throughout the country. StudioJAED conducted thorough site visits of each campus in order to assist in the completion of written documentation on current conditions including lease audits, facilities operational assessments, building and equipment evaluation, code compliance and capital planning and more.
Before conducting the site visits, the StudioJAED Team collected information on facilities standards, leases, operating costs, maintenance and operations procedures and capital plans. The during its walk-through conditions assessments, the Team determined each building's deferred maintenance and used the findings to then complete cost estimating for necessary upgrades to the facilities. Weekly project reports were prepared and submitted to CEC to outline which owners' representatives met with the StudioJAED Team and to list the preliminary findings. In addition, on-site staff interviews and drawing/document reviews were conducted.
