A Vision for the Rivers
- Project: A Vision for the Rivers: The Governor’s Task Force on the Future of the Brandywine & Christina Rivers
- Square Footage: 40,000 square feet
- Scope of Work: From 1992 to 1994, StudioJAED Principal James R. Nelson, FAIA, NCARB, served as the chairman of the Governor’s Task Force on the Future of the Brandywine & Christina Rivers. He worked with E. Arthur Trabant and Russell W. Peterson to formulate a master plan for the City of Wilmington’s Riverfront. The master plan attempted to develop a course of action for the rivers that reconciles natural resource conservation with economic growth. Highlights of the master plan include a sports arena, recreational marinas and rapid mass transit, all designed to transform the Riverfront into a cultural and recreational hub of the city.
