PLANNING

Southern Regional Library

  • Project: Southern Regional Library
  • Square Footage: 40,000 square feet
  • Scope of Work: In order to best define the unique needs and specific interests of the general public to utilize the proposed Southern Regional Library, StudioJAED and the New Castle County Department of Community Services established a “Community Work Group” to gather critical data for the development of the building program. The group was comprised of community leaders representing different areas of the region and interested groups. With input from the Community Work Groups, StudioJAED determined potential architectural elements of the library as well as efficient use of the square footage.
  • At the conclusion of three interactive sessions, the Community Work Group defined a list of recommendations for consideration on topics ranging from efficient use of square footage, flexible growth, green architecture, communication centers, preferred types of reading spaces, changing and increasing needs of technology, and unique services or features appropriate to the local community.
