Junior Achievement of Delaware

  • Scope of Work: StudioJAED was selected to design and document the first “Educational Village” for Junior Achievement of Delaware, Inc., an organization that uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life. In partnership with businesses and educators, Junior Achievement strives to bring the real world to students.

The Educational Village features both Enterprise Village and Finance Park, two distinct architectural spaces that provide students the opportunity to experience shopping, investing and other aspects of economic education first-hand in realistic environments. The “cities” feature a bank, post office, hospital, pharmacy, restaurant and more.

The creative use of materials, interior and exterior graphics and space planning all lend to the unique educational character of this Junior Achievement facility.

The Enterprise Village and Finance Park captured national attention when ABC World News Sunday recently featured the project during a broadcast. According to Junior Achievement Delaware President Frank McIntosh, the facility opened in the spring of 2003, and more than 15,000 students have passed though its doors. He added that 20,000 other students are involved with the in-school or specialty programming.
